Salzburg from above
The location of the city of Salzburg is clearly limited by the two city mountains Mönchsberg and Kapuzinerberg. The city could never expand widely because its topography does not allow it. On the other hand, today we can quickly reach one of these two mountains from the city center. From the top, we can enjoy a magnificent view of the city and its surroundings.
Are you good on foot? Then we can easily climb up the steep Stefan Zweig staircase to the Kapuzinerberg on the right side of the river Salzach.
Or do you like it less tiring? No problem. The elevator to the “Museum der Moderne” takes us in a few seconds to the back of the Mönchsberg on the left side of the Salzach.
From both mountains, we get a bird's eye view of the city's streets, alleys, and outstanding churches and buildings.
After getting an overview, we´ll walk down to the historic center and take a close look.
