Baroque versus Modern
In 2002, the "Walk of Modern Art" was launched. The idea was to bring modern art to the city of Salzburg with a new patronage modeled on the former Salzburg prince-archbishops. Each year, at least one internationally renowned artist was invited to create a work of art at the location of their choice, among them Anselm Kiefer, Stefan Balkenhohl, Marina Abramovic, Jaume Plensa or Anthony Cragg.
The result is a series of impressive modern works of art in public spaces, which create an exciting contrast to the dominant Baroque style in the city of Salzburg.
Follow me through the old town of Salzburg, and I will show you a selection from the "Walk of Modern Art"!
